A week ago, I had a chance to be a guest teacher and talking in front of almost 240 students (120 students of each class) of Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Kesehatan (STIKES) Eka Harap in Palangka Raya. It wasn’t my first time going to Kalimantan as I had my first trip to Balikpapan when I was a university student. It also wasn’t my first time giving a lecture but I felt so excited since it was my first teaching trip. Talking in front of youths always excite me, yet I fully realized that our youth has diverse talents and gifts but I'm positive that I would meet a brilliant and smart young people in Palangkaraya. I'm a firm believer of the quote "Brilliance is evenly distributed, opportunity is not".
So, this is a little note of my teaching trip (in some pictures).
Arrived 8 PM at Tjilik Riwut Airport, my first question was about time difference. And surprisingly there is no time difference between Surabaya and Palangka Raya. I was super glad to know that but not that fast! :D

This is the view of the STIKES at night and the next picture was my room during my stay at the guest house. That was located beside the STIKES (only 5 minutes walk ).
Good morning STIKES! I thought it was 8 AM already then I realized my phone was an hour faster than my watch. Thanks to automatic time zone feature I came an hour earlier (voila, another “jet lag” disaster that I had) :p
Students of STIKES, they were awesome! 2 days classes of entrepreneurship, I talked about basic management, marketing and communication. My guest teacher partner was an analyst of Sinar Mas Jakarta. She gave basic finance to the students and guided the class next door. Basically, the goal of this class is to enable students to create a business plan and present it to the audience.
Then, my communication class began. My favorite quote is “Practice makes perfect” so in this class I challenged the students to “sell” themselves by training them to make compelling introduction of themselves with great confidence. Trained them how to introduce themselves with full of confidence. The students were so excited and they gave amazing cheerful applause to me at the end of the session. Well done guys!
Day 2. Last session: Business Presentation.
In this session, I set the class as a real Business Pitching in front of Venture Capitals. Rules: 2 teams presented their business, and the others became the VCs. The VCs had a right to give 100-500 Millions based on their brief analysis, they could gave no money at all if the business wasn’t promising enough.

Her name is Angel. Day one I knew her, she was kind of shy learner student. Easy to smile and laugh but lack of confidence. Yet, she was totally changed after the practice. She was the one who did the first applause after she succeeded introducing herself. And this is the picture when she did the business presentation for her group. Surely she had to do more presentation practice but her progress during my class was deserved to get two thumbs up. Bravo Angel!
And here we are, after class. End of day 2, time to say good bye. Good luck guys! See you again someday!
Monday 8 AM, Surabaya. Directly from Airport with a luggage on a motorcycle (thanks to @ramadhanfirman my co-founder for the super fast riding) I arrived at my class event on time! Proud of my kids, they did their best for the performances :)
Then I had phenomenal “After Party” with grade 1 teachers at the karaoke. Work hard, play even harder and it was wrapped! Thank you for the grade 1 teachers who always give support to each other. Always work professionally, you guys rocks!!!
Certainly it wouldn't be my only hectic weekend, there will be more I believe. Just hoping that I always have enough energy and a chance to share many things. More impactful activities ahead!
